Ole Andreas Alsos is a Professor at the Department of Design and Head of the NTNU Shore Control Lab within the Faculty of Architecture and Design at NTNU. His work focuses on interaction design, autonomous systems, and human-centered technology. He holds a Master of Science and PhD in Computer Engineering and Information Science.
Research interests include autonomous ships, user experience (UX) design, maritime technology, and health informatics. Key projects involve the milliAmpere autonomous ferry prototype and shore control systems for unmanned vessels. He has supervised numerous master’s theses on topics like modular operator stations and UX in autonomous systems.
Publications span autonomous vehicle design, human-AI interaction, and maritime safety. His interdisciplinary approach bridges engineering, design, and human factors to advance technology that prioritizes user needs and safety.
Labs and collaborations include the NTNU Shore Control Lab, focusing on land-based control of autonomous ships and innovative interfaces for maritime operations.
