Morten Breivik is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering Cybernetics, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and is affiliated with SFI Autoship. He previously served as Head of the Department of Engineering Cybernetics (2013-2021) and held roles at Kongsberg Maritime and NTNU's research centers. His research focuses on autonomous ships, societal cybernetics, and maritime control systems. Key projects include the Autoferry initiative, which developed the world's first autonomous electric ferries, and the Nyhavna 5.0 project to create a high-tech cluster in Trondheim's harbor area. He supervises PhD candidates in human-machine collaboration and autonomous systems. Breivik co-authored books on engineering history and is involved in initiatives like the TERRAVERA Foundation for sustainability quantification.
