Olav Lian

Olav Lian is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of the Fraser Valley. His research focuses on Quaternary stratigraphy, glacial geology, and luminescence dating, supported by NSERC funding. He collaborates with experts in geomorphology, physics, and biology.

His work spans environmental change analysis in western Canada, the Canadian Arctic, Australia, Patagonia, New Zealand, Russia, and Indonesia. The research integrates interdisciplinary approaches and advanced geochronological methods.

Recent Publications highlight innovations in learned image compression, privacy-preserving computing, and computer vision, featuring techniques like Swin Transformers, Wavelet-Domain Convolution, and Entropy-Based Distillation.
