Olav Gjelsvik

Olav Gjelsvik is a Professor of Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, University of Oslo (since 1994). His academic career includes positions such as Visiting Fellow at Balliol College, Oxford (2000-01), Research Fellow (1986-90), and Associate Professor (1991-94) at the University of Oslo, as well as an Honorary Research Associate at UC Berkeley (1989-90).

His research spans multiple areas in philosophy, including philosophy of mind, language, action, science (particularly economics), epistemology, and metaphysics. His work often intersects with decision theory, rationality, and foundational questions in epistemology and metaphysics, with notable contributions to topics like causal explanation, radical interpretation, and the analysis of prudence and procrastination.
