Olav Engebråten is a Professor at the Institute for Cancer Research, University of Oslo. His research focuses on breast cancer biology, with an emphasis on genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying tumor progression, treatment response, and biomarker discovery. He leads studies on germline variants, polygenic risk scores, and therapeutic targets in breast cancer subtypes.
Research interests include:
- Genetic predisposition and somatic mutations in breast cancer
- Neoadjuvant and anti-angiogenic therapies
- Biomarker development for treatment prediction
- Multimodal imaging (MRI/PET) for tumor response monitoring
Publications highlight contributions to understanding germline variants' roles in cancer predisposition, predictive biomarkers (e.g., RAB5A), and integrative omics approaches for treatment decision-making. Collaborates internationally across clinical, genetic, and computational oncology fields.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Institute for Cancer Research and multidisciplinary breast cancer research networks.
