Dr. Olakunle Oginni is a Research Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Associate at King’s College London’s Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre (SGDP). He also practises as a psychiatrist in Nigeria and lectures undergraduate medical students. His research focuses on behavioral genetics, twin modeling, and developmental psychopathology, particularly examining mental health disparities in sexual minorities.

Research Interests: Dr. Oginni investigates how genetic and environmental factors influence mental health outcomes, particularly among sexual minority populations. His work utilizes twin models and structural equation modeling to explore mediation and moderation effects of childhood experiences on mental health. Key areas include depression, anxiety, self-harm, and risky sexual behaviors.

Advising & Lab Affiliation: A member of the Emotional Development, Interventions and Treatment (EDIT) Lab led by Prof. Thalia Eley, which focuses on genetic and environmental influences on anxiety and depression. His PhD research contributed to understanding mental health disparities in sexual minorities through twin studies.
