Müller's research centers on natural philosophy with a humanistic approach to physics, emphasizing human creativity in scientific work rather than passive reception of data. He is particularly known for advocating Goethe's color theory against Newtonian orthodoxy, collaborating with physicists, color researchers, and artists. His intellectual heroes include Mill, Frege, Schlick, Wittgenstein, Quine, and Putnam, while his scientific references span Kepler, Ritter, and Goethe.
His recent publications reveal a strong focus on contemporary peace issues, with books like Nuclear War. A Warning. (2025) and Pacifism. A Defense. (2022), alongside extensive academic work on color theory in Ultraviolet. Johann Wilhelm Ritter's Work and Goethe's Contribution (2021). His 2024-2025 output shows increasing engagement with nuclear risks, European security policy, and the philosophical foundations of pacifism in the context of the Ukraine war.
Müller maintains an active public presence through numerous media appearances, including interviews with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, DIE ZEIT, and participation in public debates at venues like re:publica 2025 and Sternstunde Philosophie. His work bridges academic philosophy with urgent contemporary concerns, particularly the ethical dimensions of scientific practice and international security.
