Oguz Buruk is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences, Tampere University, affiliated with the Gamification Group led by Juho Hamari. His research focuses on designing posthuman-era games and wearables, combining speculative design with human-nature-machine interactions. He holds a PhD from Koç University’s Design, Technology and Society Program, with a specialization in Interaction Design.
Research Interests:
- Posthuman/transhuman game experiences involving brain-machine interfaces and robotic companions
- Wearable gaming technologies and computational fashion
- Design fiction and speculative design methodologies
- Human-nature interactions mediated through extended reality (XR)
Key Projects:
- UNITE: Exploring forest-human-machine interplay
- WEARTUAL: Wearables for VR environments
- POSTEMOTION: Virtual reality’s socio-emotional impacts
His work bridges design research with emerging technologies, emphasizing playful experiences as foundational to effective game design. Recent studies investigate embodied VR experiences, avatar embodiment effects, and transhuman communication systems through co-design workshops.
