Odile Compagnon is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Designed Objects at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). She holds concurrent roles as Principal of Odile Compagnon Architecture and collaborates internationally on projects spanning Chicago and Paris. Her work emphasizes sustainable design, community participation, and transdisciplinary collaboration.
Education: Diploma of Architecture from the Ecole d'Architecture de Versailles (France, 1982), research at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia (Italy, 1986), and studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago (1980–81).
Research focuses on weaving knowledge networks across architecture, performance, and community engagement. Notable projects include the GFRY studio in Chile (2011), the Lake Street Green Pocket Square (2025), and collaborations with Redmoon Theater and the Hypocrites. Her teaching integrates analog and digital methods, emphasizing socially responsive design.
Awards include multiple recognitions from Architecture Mouvement Continuité (1994–1996) and contributions to exhibitions like Speculative Chicago and Palladio’s Sister. She has curated thesis shows (2009–2013) and co-founded the Good City Group, promoting participatory urban design.
