Odile Cisneros, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Arts. She specializes in Latin American and Brazilian literature, literary translation, and ecocriticism. Born in Mexico, she holds a BA from Wellesley College (1991) and a PhD from New York University (2003). Appointed to the University of Alberta in 2003, she was promoted to Associate Professor in 2009 and to full Professor in 2022. Her research explores avant-garde movements, ecopoetics, and translation theory.
- Education: BA (Wellesley College, 1991) in Philosophy and Math; PhD (NYU, 2003) on Mexican/Brazilian avant-gardes.
- Research: Focuses on Latin American poetry, ecocriticism, and translation. Major projects include the SSHRC-funded ecopoesia.com (2016–2019) and the Haroldo de Campos Insight Grant (2021–2024). She edits Revista Canadiense de Estudios Hispánicos.
