Odd Rune Straume is a Professor of Economics at the School of Economics, Management and Political Science, University of Minho (Portugal). He holds a PhD in Economics (2002, University of Bergen) and a Habilitation (2008, University of Minho). His affiliations include membership in the Centre for Research in Economics and Management (NIPE), Research Fellow status at CESifo (Munich), and Research Associate at Bergen Center for Competition Law and Economics (BECCLE).

As Editor of the Journal of Health Economics since 2024, he oversees scholarly discourse in health economics. His peer review activity spans 251 reviews across 71 publications, indicating strong engagement with academic networks. A grant from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (2010-2012) supported research on ownership implications for labor markets.
