Dr. Obaid Kousha is an Honorary Lecturer in the Infection and Global Health Division at the University of St Andrews' School of Medicine. He is also an ophthalmology specialty trainee in NHS Tayside and NHS Fife. His research focuses on developing low-cost ophthalmic devices for low-resource settings, particularly addressing diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity. He has contributed to innovations like frugal tele-otoscopy systems and mobile phone-integrated ophthalmoscopic techniques. Dr. Kousha actively teaches undergraduate medical students and has supervised multiple clinical trials in medical retina care.
Education: MBBS from University of Oxford (intercalated BA in Neuroscience), followed by foundation training in Devon/Cornwall. Previous roles include junior research fellow at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
