Oanh Kim Tran

Dr. Oanh Kim Tran is a Professor and Program Coordinator of the School Psychology Program at California State University, East Bay (CSUEB). She holds a Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Oregon (2007) and has been a faculty member at CSUEB since 2007. As a licensed school psychologist and consultant, she integrates clinical practice with academia.

Research Interests: Dr. Tran focuses on childhood mental health, social-emotional learning (SEL), special education assessment, and advancing social justice in school psychology. She co-authored the widely used Strong Kids and Strong Teens SEL curriculum. Her work emphasizes culturally responsive education and systemic equity in K-12 settings. She leads initiatives such as the Rise Up and Speak Up series addressing racism, poverty, and violence through a school psychologist lens.

Professional Contributions: She advises the Social Justice League (SJL) and School Psychology Association (SPA), promoting inclusive practices and ethical advocacy. Her research projects include SEL implementation in schools and social justice training for school psychologists.
