Olcay Ersel Canyurt is a Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Gazi University. He holds a PhD from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and has conducted research at General Motors and Advanced Innovative Technology (AIT). He has served as Associate Professor (2007) and Full Professor (2013) at Pamukkale University before joining Gazi University in 2018. Currently, he is Vice Director of the Additive Manufacturing Technologies Application and Research Center (EKTAM).

Research focuses on composite materials, mechanical property analysis, rocket warhead design, and advanced manufacturing technologies. He coordinated TÜBİTAK projects on composite materials and served as Editor of Pamukkale University Engineering Sciences Journal (PAJES), contributing to its WOS-ESCI indexing.
Active in collaborative projects including EU Horizon 2020, TÜBİTAK Industry Doctorate Programs, and defense industry partnerships. Served on TUBITAK Machinery Manufacturing Technologies Advisory Board (2016–2019).
Professional roles include Vice Coordinator of Gazi University Research and Development Institution (2019–2020) and project leadership in Additive Manufacturing and Industry Innovation Networks.
