Nuria Perez Bielsa

Nuria Perez Bielsa is an Associate Professor at the University of Girona, specializing in Genetics within the Department of Biology. She holds a Licenciatura in Biology and a Master’s in Cellular Biology and Biomedicine from the University of Girona.

Research Interests: Her work focuses on population genetics of marine species, including flatfish (Pleuronectiformes), Squalius laietanus in Catalan river basins, and marine genera like Thunnus (tuna) and Auxis (bonito). She is currently pursuing her doctoral thesis on the molecular characterization of Squalius laietanus populations.

Collaboration and Teaching: She has collaborated on population studies of marine species and served as an associate professor since the 2015-2016 academic year. Her early career included work as an educator at Aspro Ocio S.A., focusing on aquatic ecosystems and marine species like the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus).

Labs and Teams: She is part of the Laboratori d'Ictiologia Genètica (Genetic Ichthyology Research Group) at the University of Girona, contributing to genetic and aquatic biodiversity research.
