Nurettin Furkan Dogan serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Gaziantep University's Faculty of Engineering. His academic career has progressed from Research Assistant positions at both Gaziantep University and Kilis 7 Aralık University to his current position as Associate Professor, with an appointment to this rank beginning in 2025. He also holds significant administrative responsibilities, serving as Domestic Deputy Head of Department since 2024 and Domestic Deputy Director of Research and Application Center since 2025.
Dr. Dogan's educational background is entirely from Gaziantep University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (2008-2012), Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Mechanics (2012-2015), and Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (2015-2019).
His research primarily focuses on advanced composite materials, with particular emphasis on nanocomposites and hybrid fiber systems. Dr. Dogan investigates how various nanoparticles (graphene, nanosilica, nanoclay, boron nitride) affect the mechanical, vibrational, and failure properties of fiber-reinforced polymer composites. His work spans multiple application areas including structural integrity, impact resistance, vibration damping, and environmental aging effects on composite materials. He has developed expertise in both experimental characterization and analytical modeling of composite behaviors under various loading conditions.
Analysis of Dr. Dogan's recent publications reveals a consistent research trajectory centered on enhancing composite material performance through nanoscale modifications. His work demonstrates a progression from fundamental material characterization to more complex structural applications, with increasing focus on environmentally relevant conditions and practical repair methodologies. The interdisciplinary nature of his research bridges materials science, mechanical engineering, and structural analysis.

Dr. Dogan actively mentors graduate students, currently supervising one doctoral candidate (Harun Karaoglan) and four master's students (Mehmet Reşit Durmaz, Ekrem Türkcanoğlu, Omar Kheshkar, and previously Ahmet Kayalar and Fatih Harun Özduman). His teaching portfolio spans fundamental mechanical engineering courses including Strength of Materials, Statics, Numerical Methods, and Finite Element Analysis, delivered in both Turkish and English to accommodate international students. His laboratory work focuses on mechanical testing of composite materials, with particular emphasis on impact testing, vibration analysis, and structural integrity assessment of advanced composite systems.
