Nuno Sardinha Monteiro is an Invited Professor at the Institute of Political Studies (Universidade Católica Portuguesa). He holds the rank of Commodore in the Portuguese Navy, having commanded the inspection speedboat Dragão (1992–1994) and the training ship Sagres (2011–2013). He earned a Master’s and PhD in Navigation from the University of Nottingham (UK). In 2008, he was honored by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, with the prestigious Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation title. His academic contributions include nine authored/co-authored books, theses, and over 50 scientific and technical articles on navigation, maritime strategy, security, defense, and geopolitical issues.
