Dr. Ntina Tzouvala is an Associate Professor at UNSW's School of Global & Public Law, joining in January 2025. Previously, she held an associate professorship at ANU College of Law. Her research focuses on the history and political economy of international law, with specialties in historical materialism, deconstruction, feminist and queer legal theory. Her monograph *Capitalism as Civilisation: A History of International Law* (Cambridge, 2020) won the 2022 ASIL Certificate of Merit and ALRA, and was shortlisted for the Deutscher Prize. She has published widely in journals like *European Journal of International Law* and *Journal of International Economic Law*.
Her work critiques racial capitalism, colonial legacies, and the political economy of international law. Recent articles include analyses of sanctions regimes, Gaza conflict legal frameworks, and sovereignty in colonial South Asia. She co-edited *Decolonisation, Anti-Racism, and Legal Pedagogy* (Routledge, 2023) and has contributed to debates on transnational legal pedagogy and critical race theory.
Awards include recognition for her book’s contribution to legal scholarship and its interdisciplinary impact. Her research bridges historical analysis with contemporary legal critiques, emphasizing marginalized perspectives in global legal systems.
