Nqobile Nkala

Dr Nqobile Nkala serves as a Senior Lecturer in Secondary and Post 16 Initial Teacher Education at Canterbury Christ Church University, based in the School of Social Work, Education, and Teacher Education within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education.

Her research focuses on transformative teacher education practices, particularly decolonising pedagogy frameworks and epistemic insight development in astronomy education contexts. She actively contributes to the Astronomy and Epistemic Insight short courses for astronomy PhD students project (2024) examining knowledge integration in STEM doctoral training, and the Video-based analysis of decolonising pedagogy in the classroom initiative analyzing pedagogical approaches to curriculum decolonisation across diverse educational settings.

Dr Nkala maintains collaborative research partnerships with Professor Berry Billingsley, Dr Aga Gordon, and Dr Sobantu Sibanda while operating from her office in Fisher building (F4.13), Canterbury, with primary contact via nqobile.nkala@canterbury.ac.uk.
