Normunds Rudzītis serves as a Practical Assistant Professor at Riga Technical University (RTU) with 13 years of academic experience, complemented by 14 years in Latvia's State Revenue Service (internal audit/administrative management) and 14 years in business. Since 2014, he has contributed to the European Union Border Management Program in Central Asia as both expert and administrator.
Educational background includes dual master's degrees: Mg.sc.ing. (Engineering in Electronics) and Mg.oec. (Economics), plus specialized qualifications in accounting-economics and customs/tax administration. His scholarly work bridges theoretical frameworks with operational customs expertise.
Research centers on modernizing customs administration through integrated border management solutions, with emphasis on risk-based control systems, supply chain security protocols, and trade facilitation mechanisms. His methodology combines regulatory analysis with practical field applications to address transnational security challenges.
Recent publications demonstrate evolving focus from foundational AEO implementation (2021) toward advanced risk modeling in free trade zones (2024), reflecting growing sophistication in data-driven customs operations across Eurasian contexts.
Project leadership includes scientific management of the EU-funded Border Management in Central Asia (BOMCA 9) program (2015-2020), where he directed capacity-building initiatives for Central Asian border agencies through the International Centre for Migration Policy Development.
