Norman Wirzba is the Gilbert T. Rowe Distinguished Professor of Christian Theology and Professor of Theology, Ecology, and Agrarian Studies at Duke University's Divinity School. His research bridges theology, philosophy, ecology, and agrarian studies, focusing on practices that empower communities to engage responsibly with creation. He holds a Ph.D. from Loyola University Chicago (1994) and M.A. degrees from Loyola (1991) and Yale (1988).
Key roles include serving as Senior Associate Dean for Institutional Advancement (2018–2020) and Research Professor in Environmental Sciences and Policy (2011–2019). Wirzba has received grants from institutions like the Henry Luce Foundation and the Association of Theological Schools. His work emphasizes theological anthropology, creation care, and agrarian ethics, with over 50 publications including books like *Agrarian Spirit* (2022) and *This Sacred Life* (2021).
