Norman Beck serves as Professor of Theology, Philosophy, and Classical Language at Texas Lutheran University, where his scholarship bridges biblical exegesis, theological ethics, and interfaith engagement across Abrahamic traditions.
His academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies (New Testament) from Princeton Theological Seminary, a B.D. in Biblical Studies (Old Testament) from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, and a B.A. in Comprehensive Social Science (Political Science) from Capital University, complemented by an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
Beck's research centers on decoding hidden political narratives in biblical texts, particularly anti-Roman cryptograms in the New Testament, while advancing Jewish-Christian-Muslim dialogue through frameworks emphasizing shared Abrahamic heritage. His work critically examines Christian anti-Semitism and promotes liberation theology as tools for interreligious reconciliation in conflict zones.
Between 2010-2012, his publications reveal a dual trajectory: practical lectionary guides for liturgical use alongside scholarly interventions on interfaith relations and biblical resistance literature, demonstrating consistent engagement with scripture's contemporary ethical implications.
Honors include the prestigious Poehlmann Professorship of Theology and Classical Languages and an honorary Doctor of Divinity, recognizing his contributions to theological education and interfaith bridge-building through presentations like 'Islam: Beyond Stereotypes' and 'Blessed to Be a Blessing to Each Other'.
