Noriko Hanabusa is Teaching Professor and Japanese Language Program Coordinator at the University of Notre Dame. She specializes in Japanese language pedagogy with research focusing on extensive reading methodologies and content-based instruction.
Research develops pedagogical frameworks for enhancing learner autonomy through extensive reading programs and technology integration. Current projects investigate how individualized reading activities foster student-centered learning environments and linguistic competence.
Publications include instructional materials and theoretical frameworks for extensive reading pedagogy. The two-volume Extensive Reading in Japanese provides practical resources for implementing extensive reading programs.
