Noran Mohamed is an Assistant Professor of French in the Department of Romance Languages at Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY). Her research focuses on Maghrebi literatures from the 20th century to the present, exploring relationships between corporeality, memory, and identity through 'corporeal writing and memory.' She examines works by authors such as Tahar ben Jelloun and Assia Djebar to analyze how narrative techniques construct memories and histories in Francophone contexts.
Education: Ph.D. in French and Francophone Studies from Northwestern University (2023), with a Graduate Certificate in Middle East and North African Studies. B.S. degrees in French and Biological Sciences from the University of South Carolina (2014).
Teaching emphasizes inclusive pedagogy, fostering critical thinking and empathy through courses on French literature, language, and culture. Notable courses include 'Corps, Médecine, et Technologie dans la littérature francophone' and 'Hip-hop, Littérature, et Art: La Francophonie en marge.'
