Nora Lessing is a Researcher at the Department of Psychology within the Faculty of Educational and Social Sciences at the University of Hildesheim. She currently serves as staff member for Occupational Health Management, Psychological Counseling and Crisis Intervention in the Personnel and Legal Affairs Department since March 2025, following 6 years as Scientific Staff in the Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychopathology research groups (2019-2025). As a licensed Psychological Psychotherapist (VT), she provides clinical services at the University Counseling Center for Research and Teaching and has contributed to interdisciplinary projects including workplace mental health interventions with Salzgitter AG.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Psychology from the University of Hildesheim (2012-2016) with dissertation titled Akkommodative Regulation im Kindesalter: Erfassung, Entwicklung und Entwicklungsbedingungen, a Master of Science in Educational Psychology (2010-2012), and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with focus on Educational Psychology (2007-2010) from Jena and Hildesheim Universities.
Lessing's research focuses on developmental and clinical psychology with emphasis on childhood emotion regulation, executive functions, and workplace psychotherapy. Her work examines accommodative coping mechanisms in children through longitudinal studies like the CORE² project investigating adaptive coping resources from age 4 onward. Recent publications increasingly address occupational mental health, particularly pandemic-related stress in healthcare workers and workplace psychotherapy approaches.
Her publication trends reveal an evolution from foundational developmental research (2011-2016) focusing on childhood self-regulation and executive functions, to clinically applied work (2017-2020) on emotion regulation and coping mechanisms, culminating in current occupational health research (2021-2023) examining workplace mental health interventions and presenteeism. This progression demonstrates consistent methodology in longitudinal and cross-sectional designs applied to increasingly practical clinical contexts.
As a clinician and researcher, Lessing has contributed to diagnostic practices for behavioral difficulties, learning disorders, and psychological assessments. Her teaching portfolio includes clinical diagnostics, psychological assessments, social psychology of groups, and seminars for tutor training, reflecting her dual expertise in research and clinical application.
