Nora Blume is a Researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Pietism Research at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, concurrently pursuing her PhD in Modern Church History. Her doctoral project focuses on Johann Franz Budde (1667-1729) within the contexts of Kabbalah, Judaism, and Oriental studies. She holds a theological degree from MLU, awarded the Werner Krusche University Prize for her thesis on Cold War-era Humanism in the GDR and African liberation movements. Her research interests span discourse theory, postcolonial studies, GDR church history, and Oriental discourse in the 18th century.
Blume’s academic career includes roles as a research assistant to Prof. Friedemann Stengel and teaching responsibilities, such as courses on Cold War humanism and atheism in early modern contexts. She actively engages in initiatives promoting gender equality within theology, co-organizing workshops on gender identity and anti-bias approaches. As an Equal Opportunities Officer for faculty-independent areas, she advocates for inclusive academic practices. Her publications and conference activities further emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to historical theology and postcolonial critique.
