Nora Akawi

Nora Akawi is a Palestinian architect and Assistant Professor at The Cooper Union's Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture. Her research examines architecture's intersection with border studies, cartography, and archive theory, focusing on erasure mechanisms in settler colonial contexts.

Previously, she directed Columbia University's Studio-X Amman (2012+) and founded the Janet Abu-Lughod Library (2015). Her curated exhibitions include 'Al Majhoola Min Al-Ard' (Orléans Architecture Biennale, 2019) and 'Friday Sermon' (Venice Biennale, 2018). She co-edited 'Friday Sermon' (2018) and 'Architecture and Representation: The Arab City' (2016), and co-founded the research studio Interim Projects.
