Noopur Raval is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), within the School of Education and Information Studies. Her research focuses on critical technology studies, digital labor, and postcolonial media, with particular attention to global South communities and colonial legacies in information systems. She holds a PhD in Informatics from UC Irvine and an M.Phil. in Cinema Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
Dr. Raval’s interdisciplinary work examines AI futures, platform labor dynamics, and ethical dimensions of technology. Her research integrates humanistic social science approaches with critical theory, addressing topics like data justice, algorithmic imaginations, and solidarity networks in tech ecosystems. Notable contributions include studies on platform workers' moral economies and mutual aid systems in crises.
