Nomi Eve

Nomi Eve serves as Assistant Professor and Director of the MFA in Creative Writing program at Drexel University's Department of English and Philosophy. Her work explores Jewish cultural heritage through historical fiction and personal narrative, with novels translated into multiple languages and nominated for major literary awards.

Professor Eve holds a BA in English Literature from Penn State University (1990) and an MFA in Creative Writing from Brown University (1993). She has previously worked as a book reviewer for The Village Voice and New York Newsday.

Her research examines:

• Representations of Jewish diaspora communities in historical contexts
• Ritual and cultural memory in narrative structures
• Women's experiences in patriarchal religious traditions
• The intersection of folklore and literary fiction

Her acclaimed novel Henna House illuminates Yemenite Jewish culture through the lens of henna rituals and female relationships.

Creative works have been featured in the New York Times, Glimmer Train Stories, Conjunctions, and The International Quarterly, establishing her as a significant voice in contemporary Jewish literature.

Professor Eve actively engages with readers through her innovative 100 Book Club Challenge, having discussed her work with over 200 book clubs worldwide to foster literary community and cross-cultural dialogue.
