Nolan Harms is a Professor of Health and Human Performance and serves as the Chair of the Department of Health and Human Performance at Concordia University, Nebraska. He teaches courses in exercise science and fitness studies, advises health and human performance majors, and mentors the HHP Club. He is also actively involved in university committees and student development programs.
His research and academic interests span a wide range of health-related disciplines, including exercise science, athletic training, pre-physical therapy, pre-chiropractic studies, public health, fitness, recreation, and sport studies. His programs emphasize experiential learning, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on training in areas such as biomechanics, nutrition, epidemiology, human anatomy, and stress management.
Dr. Harms is deeply committed to student success and holistic development, integrating spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, and social wellbeing into his educational philosophy. He promotes active lifestyles through community engagement, service-learning, and collaboration with local schools and health facilities.
He has contributed to the development of several undergraduate programs, including Exercise Science, Pre-Athletic Training, Pre-Chiropractic, Pre-Physical Therapy, Public Health and Fitness, and Recreation and Sport Studies, all designed to prepare students for advanced studies and careers in health professions.
Dr. Harms lives in Seward, Nebraska with his wife, Amy, and their daughters, Nevaeh and Johanna. He enjoys playing and watching sports and values the personal connection and impact he can make on students' lives through his role at Concordia.
