Dr. Noemi Alfieri is a Research Fellow at the University of Bayreuth’s Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence. She holds a PhD in Portuguese Studies from NOVA University Lisbon (2021), specializing in Book History and Textual Criticism. Her research focuses on anti-colonial networks, transnational literary exchanges, and the underrepresentation of women in African intellectual histories. She has been affiliated with institutions like CHAM (NOVA-FCSH) and CREPAL (Sorbonne Nouvelle), contributing to projects such as AFROLAB and WOMENLIT. Her work emphasizes decolonial, feminist, and intersectional approaches, analyzing the circulation of ideas and printed materials across Africa, Europe, and Latin America during the mid-20th century.
Recent projects include mapping connections between publications like Mensagem, Présence Africaine, and Black Orpheus, highlighting racial and socio-political dynamics. She received an Honorable Mention in the Mário Soares-EDP Foundation Prize (2021) for her dissertation on African literatures in Portuguese.
Her publications span African literatures, feminist critiques of colonialism, and analyses of cultural resistance. She actively participates in international research networks, including the EU’s COST Action on urban narratives.
