Noelle L. Fields, PhD, LCSW, is an Associate Professor and the Roy E. Dulak Professor for Community Practice Research at the University of Texas at Arlington’s School of Social Work. Her research focuses on mobility, health, and aging-friendly communities, with a particular emphasis on improving home and community-based services for older adults and their family caregivers, especially those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams across civil engineering, computer science, and nursing to address transportation equity and aging challenges.
Fields holds a PhD in Social Work from The Ohio State University (2013), an MSW from Baylor University (2004), and a BA in Sociology from the University of Richmond (2002). She is a licensed clinical social worker in Texas and Ohio.
Her research interests include family caregiving, dementia, aging in place, assistive technology, and transportation mobility. Key projects include the Senior Companion Program Plus and the Intergenerational Digital Memory Project. She has secured funding from NIH, NHTSA, and private foundations, totaling over $4 million in grants.
Fields has received numerous awards, including the Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice in Social Work (2024) and the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2023). She has advised over 30 graduate students and mentored faculty across disciplines. Her work bridges practice, policy, and research to advance age-friendly innovations.
