Noam Lupu is a Professor of Political Science at Vanderbilt University and Director of the Center for Global Democracy and LAPOP Lab. His research focuses on comparative political behavior, political parties, representation, and the legacies of political violence, with an emphasis on Latin America. He has authored influential books such as Party Brands in Crisis (2016) and co-edited volumes including Unequal Democracies (2024). Lupu’s work appears in top journals like the American Political Science Review and World Politics.
His research explores how political parties shape voter behavior, the consequences of economic inequality for democratic representation, and the impact of political violence across generations. Notable contributions include analyzing class gaps in political ambition, the underrepresentation of working-class candidates, and the role of survey methods in developing democracies.
Lupu has received prestigious awards such as the Sage Best Paper Award and the Juan Linz Award. His current projects include examining weak parties in Latin America and the global legislators’ economic backgrounds.
