Dr. Noah Planavsky is an isotope geochemist affiliated with the Leverhulme Centre for Climate Change Mitigation at the University of Sheffield. His research spans Earth’s environmental changes across past, present, and future timescales, integrating field studies, analytical chemistry, novel isotope systems, and geochemical modeling. He focuses on atmospheric evolution, particularly oxygen and carbon dioxide dynamics, and investigates ocean oxygen levels, primary productivity variations, and carbon capture potential through enhanced mineral weathering in marine and terrestrial environments.
As an external collaborator at Yale University, Planavsky contributes to interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of climate science and geochemistry. His work addresses critical questions about Earth system responses to anthropogenic and natural perturbations.
- Research Themes: Earth system science, isotope geochemistry, climate change mitigation, mineral weathering, paleoceanography.
