Dr Nitin Chitranshi is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of New England's School of Science and Technology. His research investigates molecular mechanisms in glaucoma, Alzheimer's disease, and multiple sclerosis.
Education includes a BPharm from Ram Eesh Institute, MPharm from SASTRA University, and PhD in Clinical Medicine from Macquarie University. Research employs proteomics, metabolomics, and bioinformatics approaches to study neurodegenerative pathways.
Research focuses on retinal degeneration mechanisms, neuroprotective strategies, and molecular pathology in CNS disorders. Current projects explore retinoid-X-receptor agonists as neuroprotectants and gene therapy applications for glaucoma.
Awards and honors:
- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2023)
- Fellow of Linnean Society of London (2021)
- Dean's Award for Excellence in Research, Macquarie University (2018)
Research leadership includes NHMRC-funded projects totaling over $2 million. Extensive international collaborations include Cambridge University and Medical University of Vienna.
