معرفی
Nina Wildenhayn is a researcher affiliated with the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology, currently working in the Department of Microbial Population Biology. She focuses on host-parasite co-evolution, particularly in a long-term experiment involving sticklebacks and the tapeworm Schistocephalus solidus, continuing the work of Martin Kalbe and Manfred Milinski. Her career began with a postdoc at the same institute, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of the Module Temporary Positions for Principal Investigators.
Education:
- Agricultural Sciences (specializing in Animal Sciences) at Georg-August-University of Göttingen
- Diploma and doctoral theses on seasonal reproduction of rainbow trout under supervision of Prof. Wolfgang Holtz at the Institute of Animal Breeding and Genetics
Research interests:
- Host-parasite co-evolution
- Evolutionary biology of vertebrate-tapeworm systems
- Seasonal reproductive mechanisms in fish (past work)
Scientific awards:
- Received the Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft prize for her DFG-funded research project
Projects and collaborations:
- Continuing the long-term co-evolution experiment initiated by Kalbe, Lenz, and Milinski
- Collaborating with Paul Rainey for experimental support
