Nina Afshar

Dr. Nina Afshar is a Research Fellow at the Cancer Health Services Research Unit within the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne. Her work focuses on addressing disparities in cancer survival outcomes and resource utilization, particularly in colorectal cancer patients, using linked clinical and population health datasets.

Her research interests include socio-economic determinants of health, causal mediation analysis, and holistic approaches to chronic disease prevention. She explores the intersection of psychological factors (e.g., subconscious mind, emotions) and physical health outcomes. Previously, she contributed to pandemic response efforts at the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services.

She is affiliated with the Cancer Health Services Research Unit, where her projects aim to improve cancer patient survival rates and quality of life through data-driven interventions.
