Nancy Rivers Tran is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Policy, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, University of Melbourne. She joined the Cancer Health Services Research (CHSR) Group in September 2019.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Science in Pathology, University of Melbourne
- Master of Science in Epidemiology, University of Melbourne
Nancy's research focuses on epidemiology and cancer health services. She develops prediction models using machine learning techniques (decision trees, random forests, ridge logistic regression, LASSO, Elastic Net) for applications like determining twin zygosity without DNA testing. Her current work involves augmenting Clinical Trial Management Scheme (CTMS) data to create a repository for data linkage and extraction, aiming to establish metrics defining the "value" of cancer clinical trials in Victoria.
She actively engages in science communication through blogging and radio. Nancy volunteers for TravellersAid and has a passionate interest in food culture—cooking, eating, market exploration, and international culinary travel—with her pet bunny Bunbun.
Nancy contributes to the Cancer Health Services Research (CHSR) Group's mission of improving cancer care practices through data-driven clinical trial innovations.
