Dr. Nima Riahi is a Lecturer in statistics and machine learning at ZHAW School of Engineering, Zurich. Previously, he held roles as Lead Data Scientist at Sanitas AG (2022-2023), Senior Data Scientist at SBB (2016-2022), and Postdoc at UC San Diego (2014-2016). He earned a PhD in Earth Sciences from ETH Zurich (2010-2013) and a Physics diploma from ETH Zurich (1999-2004). His research focuses on advanced analytics, geophysical signal processing, and machine learning applications in sensor networks.
Key projects include leading physics-informed machine learning for sensor systems and collaborating on data stewardship integration in interdisciplinary projects. His publications span seismology, geophysics, and signal processing, including work on graph clustering for source localization and time-lapse surface wave anisotropy analysis.
