Nim Benshalom is a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory and Kellogg College. His research focuses on light scattering phenomena in disordered materials, leveraging Raman spectroscopy and quantum measurement techniques. He holds a PhD from the Weizmann Institute of Science, an MSc from Tel Aviv University, and a BSc from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
His work explores anharmonicity, correlated disorder in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and disorder-enhanced transport properties under the VET-SOFT programme grant. The group emphasizes creative thinking over lab hours and prioritizes gender balance and LGBTQ+ inclusivity.
Key research directions include diffuse scattering analysis, structural characterization of aperiodic crystals, and topological disorder in materials. Nim’s interdisciplinary background in screenplay writing adds a unique perspective to scientific communication.
