Nils Wogram is a Professor at the Lucerne School of Music (HSLU), leading the Institute of Jazz and Folk Music. An internationally renowned trombonist, composer, and bandleader, he has collaborated with jazz luminaries and performed globally. His research and performance focus on jazz improvisation, composition, and cross-genre fusion, with a particular emphasis on analog recording techniques and ensemble dynamics.
Notable achievements include the Echo Jazz Award (2015) for the album *Naure* and the Albert Mangelsdorff Prize. His work explores themes of movement, introspection, and nature, often blending traditional jazz with modern experimental approaches. Wogram leads several ensembles, including the Nostalgia Trio and Root 70, and has released over 14 albums under labels like Enja Records and his own Nwog Records. His recent album *The Walk* (2025) delves into themes of physical and mental journeys, recorded live to analog tape at Studio Nord in Bremen.
