Andreas Tschopp

Andreas Tschopp is an Associate Lecturer at the Lucerne School of Music (HSLU) within the Institute of Jazz and Folk Music. He is a prominent Swiss jazz trombonist and composer, renowned for his versatility and creativity. Tschopp has performed internationally across all continents, collaborating with ensembles such as the Swiss Jazz Orchestra, Vertigo Trombone Quartet, and Skyjack. His projects include Bubaran (fusing jazz with Indonesian gamelan music) and Sparks and Tides (blending electronic and acoustic sounds). He is also a member of groups like Le Rex and Hildegard lernt fliegen.

Research interests focus on sound experimentation, improvisation, and cross-cultural musical fusion. Notable performances include appearances at the Montreux Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, and collaborations with artists such as Nils Wogram and Kyle Shepherd.

Current projects emphasize innovative compositions and interdisciplinary collaborations, including preparations for Bubaran's second release and an electroacoustic sextet. Tschopp’s work spans diverse genres, from free improvisation to Swiss pop collaborations with Züri West and Patent Ochsner.
