Nils Much

Nils Much is a Research Associate and founding member at the Professorship of Simulation for Additive Manufacturing at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany. From 2020 to 2024, he was affiliated with the Institute for Computational Mechanics (LNM) at TUM, where he completed his M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 2020.

Research Interests: His work focuses on FEM-based melt pool modeling, CutFEM, continuum surface flux modeling, and high-performance computing for metal additive manufacturing. Key areas include microstructure evolution, thermo-solid-mechanics, and computational simulation of complex multiphase flows.

Research Trends: Recent publications highlight advancements in finite element methods for multiphase flows, rapid evaporation dynamics, and predictive modeling in additive manufacturing. These works emphasize mathematical consistency, computational efficiency, and cross-scale simulations in metal AM processes.
