Nils Krueck is a Research Fellow at the University of Queensland, specializing in marine ecology and fisheries conservation. Born in Germany, he relocated to Australia in 2007 to pursue an MSc in Marine Biology and later earned a PhD in Marine and Fisheries Science from the University of Queensland.
His research focuses on spatial fisheries management and marine reserve network design, with emphasis on balancing coral reef conservation with sustainable fisheries productivity. His fieldwork centers on the Coral Triangle region, particularly the Indonesian Sunda Banda seascape.
Krueck has contributed to high-impact studies on climate change effects on tropical fisheries and coral reef resilience, including research featured in media releases about DNA analysis of coral adaptation and socioeconomic impacts of climate change on coastal communities.
