معرفی
Nils Halverson is a Professor in Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences at the University of Colorado. His research focuses on experimental cosmology, including observations of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) and development of millimeter-wave instrumentation. He has held prior positions at Caltech, University of Chicago, and UC Berkeley.
His current research interests include Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect galaxy cluster surveys and fine-scale CMB anisotropy measurements using telescopes like the 12m APEX (Chile/Atacama) and the 10m South Pole mm-wave Telescope. His work bridges observational cosmology with advanced instrumentation development.
Notable contributions include the Degree Angular Scale Interferometer (DASI) project and the APEX-SZ galaxy cluster survey instrument. His publications span CMB polarization studies, galaxy cluster observations, and instrumentation advancements.
He is affiliated with the CASA (Center for Astrophysics & Space Astronomy) at the University of Colorado, where his office is located in CASA 175F.
