Prof. Dr. Nils C. Bandelow is a full Professor of Political Science at the Technical University of Braunschweig, leading the Institute of Comparative Politics and Public Policy (CoPPP). He holds a doctorate (summa cum laude) in Political Science from Ruhr University Bochum and completed his habilitation in 2003 at the same institution. His research focuses on public policy analysis, health policy, European governance, and policy design. A key emphasis is on programmatic action frameworks, advocacy coalitions, and the intersection of social identities with policy processes.
He has led numerous DFG-funded projects on EU governance, health policy, and transport policy, and is co-editor of the journals *European Policy Analysis* and *Review of Policy Research*. His career includes roles as a lecturer at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf and research assistant at Ruhr University Bochum.
Research interests span comparative political systems, policy learning, crisis management, and participatory governance. Recent work addresses digital participation in infrastructure planning, health policy regionalization, and the impact of social identities on legislative voting behaviors in the European Parliament. His projects often involve transdisciplinary collaboration, including studies on sustainable neighborhood design and technology-based participation processes.
Prof. Bandelow advises on policy reforms, notably in health systems and transport policy (e.g., Deutschlandtakt project). He has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles and authored/co-authored influential books on health policy, governance, and policy analysis methodologies.
