Dr. Nils B. Heyen is a sociologist and Senior Researcher/Project Manager at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI (Karlsruhe), specializing in Technology Assessment and Emerging Technologies. Since 2023, he holds a Deputy Professorship for Socio-Economic Innovation Design at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences’ Faculty of Social Sciences. His work bridges sociology, healthcare innovation, and ethics, focusing on topics like AI’s environmental impact in healthcare, patient science, and post-growth economics. He has conducted interdisciplinary projects such as PRIMA (privacy management for health apps) and WIDEN (knowledge transfer in academia), and contributed to EU-funded initiatives like CIRCADIA and TetRRIS.
- Education: PhD in Sociology (Bielefeld University, 2011), studies in Sociology/Psychology at Bielefeld, Hanover, and Edmonton (Canada). Postgraduate training in Conflict Transformation (Bonn/Skopje).
