معرفی
Dr. Niloofar Karimian serves as an Adjunct Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Southern Cross University's Faculty of Science and Engineering. She is a core member of the Environmental Geochemistry and Mineralogy research group within Southern Cross GeoScience (SCGC), specializing in mineral-environment interactions and trace element behavior.
Her academic credentials include:
- PhD in Environmental Geochemistry, Southern Cross University (2013-2017)
Her research program investigates how mineral formation and transformation processes govern trace metal/metalloid mobility in natural systems, utilizing advanced synchrotron techniques like X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS). She examines redox-driven changes in elements including iron, arsenic, and chromium across diverse environments—from acid sulfate soils to synthetic mineral-microbial systems—under controlled pH and redox conditions. This work bridges geochemistry, mineralogy, and environmental science with strong methodological emphasis on synchrotron radiation applications.
Her distinguished recognition includes:
- Southern Cross University Chancellor’s Medal for the outstanding PhD thesis (2017)
While no student advisement or grant details appear in source materials, her research directly contributes to SCGC's mission in earth sciences and pollution studies. She maintains active collaboration within the Environmental Geochemistry and Mineralogy group, driving innovative investigations into trace metal biogeochemical cycling through advanced analytical approaches.
