Dr. Nildo Costa is a Senior Research Fellow at the Sustainable Environment Research Centre, University of South Wales. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and specializes in inorganic chemistry with focus areas in hydrogen storage, catalysis, and advanced functional materials for photonics and sensors. His current research develops transition metal complexes for hydrogen storage/release systems and catalysts for CO2 transformation. Dr. Costa serves as Director of Studies for PhD/MRes projects in collaboration with Tata Steel UK.
His research interests span:
- Design of boron-based ligands for catalytic applications
- Synthesis of helicenes for optoelectronic devices
- Development of oleophobic materials for environmental applications
- Advanced characterization of organometallic complexes
Dr. Costa has published extensively on CO2 utilization strategies, with recent work focusing on homogeneous catalysis systems and computational modeling of excited states. His articles demonstrate consistent focus on sustainable chemistry approaches.
As an experienced academic, he mentors graduate students and collaborates with industrial partners to translate fundamental research into environmentally sustainable technologies.
