Nikolay V. Sobolev serves as a Research Professor at the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy, Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk. He is an Ordinary Member of Academia Europaea (elected 1993) within Earth & Cosmic Sciences and maintains dual academy memberships in both the Russian Academy of Sciences and U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
His research specializes in petrology and mineralogy with concentrated focus on high-pressure and ultrahigh-pressure processes in crustal and mantle systems, particularly kimberlite formations.
